Following the success of the previous editions, we are pleased to announce the 4th International Symposium on Photonic and Electronic Molecular Machines (PEMM) which will take place at ENS de Lyon on July 13-16, 2026.
This field of research currently is in full development with two parallel strategies depending on the energy source used: photons (light) or electrons (electric current). The aim of this symposium is to bring together researchers working following these two approaches, in order to detect and develop possible synergies.
This development leads us today to imagine concrete applications linked to the intrinsic advantages of these molecular-sized machines: ultimate miniaturization, the possibility of designing finely tuned devices to adapt their physical properties to the desired function and of course their low energy consumption.
This symposium will be organized in sessions bringing together senior speakers and young researchers full of potential. It will include sessions dedicated to Molecular Electronics jointly organized with GDR NEMO.
